April - Birthday Reflections
Lots of rough patches, hundreds of man hours fused
with a huge amount of fun, laughs and enjoyment means JPMQ has made it to its first birthday with a huge following in tow. Which is all we ever wanted, to pick up fans along the journey of his life in Hollyoaks and invite them on board the crazy fandom that is John Paul McQueen. In this months blog we talk about us (which we do every month don't we?) specifically, details about numbers and what not.
The site started in a run down shack and now we live in a tower of elegance! We can't complain. We opened on the 2nd of April and primary "advertised" on the Digital Spy forum thread "Hollyoaks: Is John Paul Gay?" because that's where Knuxs was living in support of one of the greatest soap character to ever bless our TV's (and for some fans, there PC's), the thread spiraled along, knowledge and history was replaced with new stuff and JPMQ for the first time allowed a group of fanatics to pace out the information into chunks which even now can be accessed with relative easy. We chart his life down to the minimal detail, and its all here for YOU, the old fan to reminisce over and for the new fan to learn about. 89,000 hits later, which is about 7410 a month, 1850 a week and 264 a day (The counter on the right depicting Visitors today ignores anyone on the IE web browser who disables ActiveX), just goes to show how many learned JP scholars there must be out there, and we are so proud that so many of you come to us for your information.
The pictures are all images of the site from the grand opening, not too much has changed layout wise, but content has exploded outward to create a rich tapestry of pages each giving you something more for anyone who wants deeper knowledge of our shared hero.
As proud as we are, and as cliched as it sounds, the whole point of the site was for anyone who is a follower of John Paul, we are all a collective group. We are a community, which means JPMQ is for everyone and it would be nothing without you and your support. Thank You!
Reflective as we have been above, there is a future waiting that needs to be discussed, so new stuff with the site this month;
* Interesting Unconfirmed spoilers section you might feel like taking a peek at...
* People kept asking for more pictures, so some of the more text heavy pages have more JP related visual stimuli including one of the most popular pages; The Timeline which hopefully now stops John Paul's months and years blending into one another.
* The "books" have had a visual overhaul as well, they were always presented in a storybook fashion so the rough right angled squares didn't look right, the blended look is so in right now. We jumped aboard the groovy fashion train.
* JPDb, again this area of the site now consumes over half the time we are able to give the site, it's heavily focused on providing a factual and extremely detailed look at everything linked and involved with JP. With the increasingly likely hood James will be leaving the Oaks in the approaching future we want to leave behind our attempt at leaving a legacy that will hopefully do his character justice.
* The Media and James Sutton pages had a restructure and we (hopefully) improved on some of the navigation when you get deeper into the site and it becomes easier to get lost.
* Started to add content into the YouTube Fan video tables. After months of neglect we are literally hundreds of links behind we'd appreciate help with this part of the site 1) someone to help fill the tables (your need HTML skills for this one) and 2) People to give us links to your favorite JP related Music Vids (your only need eyes for this one). You can do both from the contact page
That's it for another month, and welcome to a new JPMQ year!
