John Paul McQueen and His Quotes
Various Dates = We normally put a date, when a certain event has occurred, in brackets after we talk about it, this is essentially to give strength to what we are saying and lets you, the reader, check it out if you dare to doubt us, although we are a fun site we do try where we can to be truthful and factual. When we use "Various dates" instead it's normally when we say something that even the basic JP fan would not have a problem with and thus doesn't need to be checked i.e. "JP works as a part time DJ in the Loft"
(rather than surname linking like we had before, this time around we are going by first name order)

Aleksander Malota
Aleksander Malota (Jon Lolis) became JP's brother in law when Alec married Jacqui (March 23rd, 2007), not out of love but because he was an immigrant and had to marry a British citizen to stay in the country longer term, get a job and earn money for his family back in Albania. JP was never supportive of his sister and Alec as a couple because early on he discovered that it wasn't a "true" romance when Jacqui had confided in JP about what she was being 
pushed to do, and there after attempted to put a stop on things (various dates). Nonetheless in the end he still went along with it, (dragging his feet as he went) and even attended Alec's stag party (21st of March, 2007 ).
Married Alec becomes increasingly attracted to Carmel, and before long the pair embark on an affair, JP again discovers what's going on (May 10th, 2007), and is beaten down into keeping it under wraps, but when Myra assumes that JP and Alec are having the affair the truth is exposed (May 11th, 2007). Eventually things calm down and Alec, Jakqui, Tony and Carmel try to keep up the shams; Tony is with Jacqui, Carmel with Alec and they all live in Tony's flat, and swap partners whenever some else is around. But it all breaks apart when Jacqui loses Tony's baby and everyone thinks Alec is the father. Alec decides the best thing to do is to leave Hollyoaks. He leaves Carmel with a note tapped to her mirror telling her he will always love her (August 16th, 2007).
Ashworth's
The Ashworth's are linked to JP only by the families youngest daughter Hannah, Josh (Sonny Flood), Rhys, (Andy/Andrew Moss) Suzanne (Suzanne Hall) and Neville (Jim Millea) only tend to interact with JP as a secondary character. There are few to none, notable scenes between them. Suzanne tells Myra JP has dumped Hannah because he is gay (8th Of February 2007). The Ashworths live at 65 Christleton Terrace.
B
Barnes's
Like the Ashworth's the Barnes Family are only linked to JP by Sarah the oldest daughter and through Amy (Ashley Slanina-Davies) who is best friends with Michaela. Mike (Tony Hirst) have very little to do with JP. They all live at flat 3 Oakdale Drive.

Carmel McQueen
Carmel McQueen (Gemma Merna) appears to be ever so slightly blonde, compare her to Jade Goody if you will, but don’t assume they are anything alike. She is one of Myra's daughters, and the sister of John Paul and Michaela. 
Half-sister to Jacqui, Mercedes and Tina. Carmel has a great singing voice, Carmel like her mother is a Catholic. She is the only one of her siblings to keep the faith and attends Mass (April 6th, 2007).
Carmel has been very supportive towards brother John Paul after he came out i.e. “Rainbow Sandwiches” and signing JP up to a gaydar style website to meet "friends" (February 26th, 2007) she was always happy to look out for her younger brother even before he came out, after Craig had punched JP in The Dog when he thought he was after Sarah, the following day Carmel confronted his friends about it (December 28th, 2006). Aleksander Malota (The guy Jacqui married) is now with Carmel. Carmel currently works in the beauty salon Evissa as a nail technician. The girl is always unlucky in love, falling for the bad guy or one of her sisters boyfriends/husbands. JP returns the support in his own brotherly way (various dates) sometimes offering his own experiences as a form of guidance (August 16th, 2007), and offering brute force when Ste mugs her in the street for her purse (March 5th, 2008).
Craig Dean
Craig Dean (Guy Burnet) was, and to a extent still is, a very important person in JP's life, the pair together embarked on possibly one 
of the most exciting relationships either man will ever have. Craig had been living in Chester for the previous five years with his family before they met, during that time he has had some crazy adventures, formed some unusual friendships and made some life changing choices. Problems with his previous friendships and home disruptions meant he suffered in his A2 level exams in 2006, causing him to re sit the entire year and start afresh. Bad luck for him but Jake had just killed someone by driving like a manwhore on speed, and that person was keen to hold a life long grudge, so with no friends for support Craig had to endure the bullying and taunts. That is until his Knight in shining armor turned up in the form of new boy John Paul (September 6th, 2006) who was kind hearted enough to set off a fire alarm to get him out of a fight with Sonny and Justin. The pair went to lunch one day and had a deep conversation about life and they were instant BFF's (September 7th, 2006).
The boys bond over friend type stuff, doing various things, looking out for one another and sharing each others interests (various dates), its not long before Craig's attraction to Sarah creates a new group of four (October 30th, 2006), and the group have lots of fun adventures with lashing of ginger beer and generally having a good old gay time. Sarah and Craig now a couple push JP 
and Hannah together, and everything is fine until Hannah's 18th birthday arrives (January 26th, 2007), JP being eaten up with jealous and confusing feelings for his best friend eventually spews out his feelings and reveals to Craig that he loves him. Boy does Craig feel stupid for not seeing the signs, but either way he doesn't like boys, but is attracted strongly to JP because he is the first proper male friend he has ever had, and arranges for things to go back to normal (January 29th, 2007). There is a niggling doubt in Craig about JP actually being straight and the matter is pressed for several weeks, with JP constantly saying he is straight (various dates), the boys both get drunk at the dance off competition, and lots of fumbling and laughing Craig kisses JP (6th of February 2007), in front of Hannah who tells everyone. Craig ask's JP to pretend it never happened, but JP gives up pretending and comes out (7th, 8th and 9th February 2007), JP get's a lot of stick 
and Craig isn't strong enough to stand up for him, so he joins in and ends up attacking JP during a football game (February 9th, 2007).
It takes a long time for things to mend, he eventually gets back fully with Sarah (March 5th, 2007), and later still makes things up to JP (April 12th, 2007). This time JP has a new boyfriend and Craig grows increasingly green eyed, he shrugs it off as not being able to spend enough time with his best friend, but it later becomes more intense when Craig in a crying snotty mess goes around to JP's and the pair have sex (May 16th, 2007). From the 16th of May to the 6th of September 2007, we watch Craig struggle to accept how his friendship with JP has, and is, changing to something much deeper, and how he deals with the changes within himself, its a violent and turbulent time for all involved (various dates), until Sarah finally discovers the truth by walking in on the pair (September 6th, 2007). Craig and JP now fully exposed become a fully fledged 
couple and attempt to maintain there relationship the best they can, unfortunately Craig's perception of how others see him is too hard to deal with and with much less support from him family than what JP had, he decides they should leave and go make a new life together in Dublin (September 14th, 2007). Although JP happily agrees it all turns sour when Craig is unable to show JP publicly how much he loves him, and JP leaves Craig to board the flight to Dublin alone. Craig heads off a heart broken man with all his bridges behind burnt to a smoulding ruin (September 20th, 2007). Christmas day 2007, and JP is in the Dog with his family when he receives a text from Craig reading "Merry Christmas. Miss You. Love 2CU in Dublin!" (December 25th, 2007).
Craig is still talked about today, Kris mentions him twice in a quib about JP always going for the wrong guys (5th and 6th of March 2008), and Frankie mentions having a gay son to Father Kieron, which he late brings up with JP who says "He was my friend, you no.." (March 11th, 2008). Craig is mentioned heavily on the 1st of April when JP unloads to Hannah about his feelings that still linger for his ex, essentially JP doesn't feel he will ever get over him, and nothing with anyone else will match what he had with Craig. A day later he tells Kieron he isnt Craig. Towards the start of May he tells Kris he is over Craig now (May 8th, 2008).
D
Darren Osborne
Darren Osborne (Ashley Taylor-Dawson) is Craig's immature step-brother, and a pretty rotten one at that, throughout the years Darren is mean and vile towards Craig and JP both when they are a couple and before, but it would not be easy, or perhaps even fair, to brand him homophobic although he picks at that part of their personality and relationship it comes across as just "something to use" rather than a vindictive prejudice (various dates). Almost endless examples can be cited where Darren will say or do something which undermines Craig's confidence in himself whether it was suggesting Sarah was too good for him, or jibes about him being with JP. Generally Darren has a negative and bitter personality and takes it out on people he is close too, in his own way he did seem sad when Craig left (September 20th, 2007).
Darren is still to mature, and ribs JP about his sexuality several times (various), during a pub dare he does it mutiple times (May 7th, 2008).
Danny Valentine
Danny Valentine (David Judge) has very little to do with JP, other than on/off dating Hannah, (December 2007 onwards) and being partly responsible for almost killing him along with the rest of the party goers at the Students flat warming party (October 11th, 2007).
Dean's/Osborne's
The Dean's and Osborne's are two families who have come together to form one. Linked by Frankie Osborne (nee Dean) (Helen Pearson) and Jack Osborne (Jimmy McKenna). The Deans; Jake (Kevin Sacre), Steph (Carley Stenson) and Craig (Guy Burnett), and the one other Osborne; Darren (Ashley Taylor-Dawson) and foster child Newt, who all lived together upstairs in the flat above The Dog (Jake now lives with Nancy and Charlie, and Craig lives in Dublin) The family have constant interactions with JP, and more details are explored in the individual character entries.
Dominic Reilly
Dominic Reilly (John Pickard) is JP's brother in law.

Elliot Bevan
Elliot Bevan (Garnon Davies) is a bit of a stereotype. Welsh and a total geek with both traits exploited fully in his storylines (various dates), he and JP get along well, dispute a potentially disastrous first meeting when Elliot comes home to find his room filled with JP's things (November 8th, 2007). Together they work well as a duo and band together (December 6th, 2007) when they bond over their mutual dislike of Kris's OTT personality, and set up a pirate radio station. It's made clear early on that JP and Elliot will be nothing more than good friends (December 7th, 2007) and when JP strips off in front of Elliot who doesn't even bat an eyelid it seems fair to say they wont be the next McDean (January 9th, 2008). Elliot shows early on he can be a tad unhinged when he continually ropes JP into attacking Kris on air (various dates), but he quickly grows to like JP and shows him a great deal of respect when Elliot almost admits to Kris and Sarah in The Dog he was the one responsible for the radio hijacks, and in a feat of self sacrifice JP comes forward and says it was him, with Sarah shouting and personally attacking JP for always causing problems (January 11th, 2007).

Frankie Osborne
Frankie Osborne (Helen Pearson) is Craig's mother. In the olden days years and years before JP arrived in town Frankie was a bit of a show girl going on gigs, and dancing around, perhaps some singing you know, and she was pretty gay friendly as well as a fun, although at times embarrassing, mum to have (February 5th, 2007) when JP comes out she get's cold and some confusing scenes imply she might even be homophobic (20th and 23rd of July 2007) (either a hidden trait all along or the script writers needing someone to throw a spanner in the works). 
She doesn't like JP, and caught up in Craig's and Sarah's relationship she throws a engagement party and is quite possibly the most shocked out of everyone when JP and Craig are exposed as a couple (September 12th, 2007). Knowing Craig all his life and aware of how much his dad cheating on her and running out effected Craig she is horrified he could have done it to Sarah, less impressed still when Craig and JP tell their families it's not just a fling but actually something much much deeper (September 13th, 2007). Frankie has a tough ride compared to Myra in accepting that Craig is gay/bi, and undoubtedly that lack of support is one of the main reasons Craig is unable to cope in Chester any longer and feels he needs to spread his wings (various dates). To date Frankie still isn't BFF with JP and likely associates him with Craig leaving, although random comments and texts suggest she is coming around to accepting and supporting Craig with who he is. When she is talking to Father Kieron in The Dog she casually reveals she has a gay son without batting an eyelid (March 11th, 2008).

Hannah Ashworth
Hannah Ashworth (Emma Rigby) is an important figure in JP's life; not only did he lose his virginity to her, and her's to him (December 19th, 2006), she was one of the first people JP revealed he was gay 
to (February 7th, 2007). Hannah is a very young and inexperienced teenager, she also has a large heart, which might explain why both JP and Hannah were in principle an ideal match.
Later Hannah is unable to move on from JP and still in part thinks they might be able to get back together this continues for several months from Early February 2007 to early June 2007. She tries several things from being "Just friends" and buying him presents (March 20th, 2007) to wrecking future love interests by going along to JP's dates with Spike (April 11th, 2007) and slagging and bad mouthing him. Eventually she has to face facts and accept they would never be the happy couple they were once before when
she is confronted with JP having a passionate kiss with Spike during SnogFest 2007 (April 16th, 2007).
She doesn't like JP and Spike being together but gradually accepts he isn't ever going to like and love her in a sexual way, which is what she wants. Unfortunately her obsessive nature and easily led attitude means she is easy pray for Melissa who takes Hannah down the path of anorexia. There are several references to Hannah feeling unattractive because of JP "turning gay" and moving away from women i.e. she turned him gay (various dates). This to the viewer is clearly nonsense, but Hannah's feelings merely reflect how an individual might feel and view his or her situation. Over the next few months the blame is nicely shifted towards Melissa (August 6th, 2007), but on the 5th of September 2007 everything comes back to JP being the cause. Hannah also reveals him treating her the way he 
did was the reason for her not being "able to look at herself in the mirror". JP feels guilty and the blame is changed to JP not necessarily being gay, but because he lied about it.
Being friends with Sarah means she naturally takes her side when the Craig and JP relationship hits the fan, but when JP goes around to try and make amends (September 21st, 2007) she is more concerned with staying conscious. JP and Sarah fighting causes her to pass out.
A few months later, JP and Hannah bump into one another in the Village, She explains she doesn't blame JP because it was her problem not his. She asks if he wants to be friends with her, and JP eagerly agrees (December 5th, 2007) and they go as friends to watch The Twang play (January 17th, 2007) and chat about it the next day after JP gives her their album he brought her. Hannah and JP chat about life and Father Kieron over a cup of coffee at Il Nosh as she tries to work out who he fancies (March 10th, 2008). Hannah watches JP as he gets stressed and tries to make a dignified exit from the SU, after the 10k run celebrations get to much for him (March 31st, 2008), he shrugs her off when she goes after him to try and find out what's wrong. After sleeping with Kieron that night JP rings her late when she is preparing to sleep and asks her if he can come round for a chat, although finding it a bit strange she agrees and the pair talk about how JP is feeling about his new love life; JP tells Hannah he still thinks about Craig a lot and doesn't think he will ever be able to move on, she points out that's how she felt about him, but eventually you get over it (April 1st, 2008).

Jack Osborne
Jack Osborne (Jimmy McKenna) has had very little to do with JP in the grander context, but when they do cross paths they are more than happy to shares jokes and chat about various things (various dates). In the past Jack has shown some prejudices; sacking Kris Fisher because he thought he had HIV. Yet when Craig and JP were revealed he saw past the issue of gender and was the only Dean/Osborne to show Craig unconditional love (September 9th, 2007), he also bids an emotional farewell to Craig liking him to a biological son (September 20th, 2007).
Jacqueline "Jacqui" Bernadette Malota (née McQueen)
Jacqui (Claire Cooper) is arguably 
the more supportive McQueen sister towards John Paul's “big reveal”, seen as a secondary mother by the younger members of the household. Jacqui married Alec in order to avoid jail, although is currently with Tony Hutchinson.
Jacqui and JP have a close and unique brother and sister relationship, she is constantly there for JP (various dates) and he tries to return that affection when he is able (various dates). Jacqui is furiously protective of her younger brother, but often only needs to gently push him into the right direction and he is able to deal with his own issues (9th and 19th of February 2007). JP gives Jacqui away on her wedding day (March 23rd, 2007) despite trying to talk her out of marrying Alec which was essentially for money. Jacqui bullies JP into work at Il Nosh when Tony is short staffed (March 10th, 2008) saying its a family business, and also pointing out he needs the money.
Jake Dean
Jake Dean 
(Kevin Sacre) and JP are only linked through Jake's Brother, Craig. Jake is a bit of a homophobic and fosters pretty nasty anti gay attitudes, (various dates), he makes no effort to try and support his brother when his affair with JP is revealed, is brash, dismissive and cruel to Craig and deeply revolted by the thought of the pair together in a sexual way. This upsets Craig greatly and is likely to be one of the strongest reasons for Craig wanting to escape from Chester. Jake does eventually come to the airport to say farewell to Craig but in doing so only adds to the niggling doubt in JP's mind when Craig tells Jake he isn't gay (September 20th, 2007). Jake relishes telling JP in Drive n Buy that Craig is having a great time in Dublin and what they had was only a phase (September 27th, 2007). In order to comfort Nancy JP tells her he isn't scared of Jake, and agree's to go with her to see baby Charlie (March 11th, 2008).
Jay aka "Plot device on legs"
Jay (who is this guy?) is a horrid sleazy guy who works in a shoe shop who JP is pushed into picking up by Summer and then taking back to his love nest for some meaningless stringless (and probs goad awful) sex, lucky someone else is sleeping in in his bed and its not Goldilocks, its his sister and hubby making a porridgeage mess with snuggle time (October 3rd, 2007). A disgusting creep ass crawler is Jay, who only wants JP for his body, he scarpers as soon as Mama McQueen comes to see what all the fuss is about. Jay could actually be a "Goldilocks" if he wasn't such a dog.
Jessica Harris
Jessica "Jess" Harris (Jennifer Biddall) was JP's housemate and "landlord" when he briefly moved into the student flat (October 4th, 2007), she pimped out Elliot's room while he was away in order to make some quick cash from JP, the boys eventually discovered the truth and he demanded his money back (November 8th, 2007). Jess was also responsible for the Poison Party by "hiring" Danny Valentine on the cheap, to fix the boiler (October 10th, 2007). Jess left Chester for good on the 28th of Decemeber 2007.
John Paul McQueen
(Born 18th May 1989)
John Paul (Anthony Sebastian) McQueen (James Sutton) is the focus of this entire site, and with that in mind is why this reference is so short and basic. We love John Paul McQueen, he is our hero and our private worship with our secret Hollyoaks Shrines in the back of the cupboards, just weren't cutting the mustard or showing the true extent of our addiction. We decided to bring it all into the wonderful world wide web and further the cult fascination with the lad.
He arrives in Chester (September 2006) and is quite pretty to look at, some might even describe him as drool on legs, but his real charm is his well constructed and rounded character. 
He was also the perfect vessel for Hollyoaks to finally knock down the final taboos of "being gay" on a modern UK soap, he isn't a "Mincy Queen" or a "limp handed wack slacker" or even a "rough around the edges gayer". Nope JP is just JP. He shattered stereotypes and ruined other soaps half hearted, and at times insulting, attempts to represent a fairly large "minority group" in this county. JP was allowed to kiss guys and explore his sexuality openly (16th of April 2007 amongst others) and in full view of the watcher, there was no "scared of what people might think so lets be really snecky and cut away NOW!" scenes it was fair and an accurate representation, all the while not becoming repetitious or boring. Being gay is a normal form of sexuality and JP is one of the first characters in TV who has finally been allowed to demonstrate that attribute. Then one final winning attribute, JP is still living his life in Chester, he hasn't scuttled off and hidden now his storyline of "being gay" has "finished", we get to keep his loveable, sensitive and sometimes snarky personality and attitude playing out on screen. Fantastic Brilliance.
What? That's all very well and good but you want personal details about the guy!? Well OK. But note this page covers JP in so much detail that if you go to it there is no way you can claim to be just an "average" fan.
Justin Burton
Justin Burton (Chris Fountain) 
was good friends with Sonny and thus had a natural hate of both JP and Craig, their animosity was further antagonised when JP got physical with Justin and hit him (January 10th, 2007) while defending Craig. Their interaction was limited until, Katy Fox became friends with JP (September 27th, 2007), Justin dates Katy on and off, and he quickly became jealous and frustrated by JP's protection of his new friend (various dates). Eventually Justin saved JP's life from a faulty boiler throwing out toxic carbon monoxide, during a housewarming party for JP moving into halls, rendering everyone at the students party unconscious, (October 11th, 2007) after that JP had little choice but to offer Justin a level of respect he hadn't needed to previously (October 12th, 2007).

Katy Fox
Katy Fox (Hannah Tointon) 
is one of JP newest collage friends, they both do similar courses at HCC at the moment English Literature.
When they first meet it was hate at first sight (September 27th, 2007) she thinks JP is some kind of sex pest when he touches her breasts to try and clean her up after knocking coffee all over her, and later when Ste tries to bother her for money he acts as if they are a couple. Outraged she rants to her brother, who quickly reveals JP is actually into guys, that out of the way the pair get along famously, and even go as a couple to the fresher's ball (September 28th, 2007). JP is furiously protective of Katy and keeps Justin away when she doesn't want to see him. Justin soon saves both JP and her from certain death and things settle down with both JP and Justin giving each other a mutual respect. The pair remain good friends, Katy jokes in a sing song voice about JP and Robin being together forever much to Justin and JP's amusement (January 23rd, 2008). Katy leaves the village forever on the 10th of April 2008.
(Father) Kieron Hobbs
Father Kieron Hobbs (Jake Hendriks) is Chester's newest Priest who 
works at St Charles Church. Naturally all the McQueen's Love him (for differing reasons) (January 8th, 2008). He moves into the "guest room" while Myra mothers him, Michaela stalks him (Various dates in January 2008). Kieron goes about his priestly work for a few weeks and then gets a bit more social joining Robin and JP on a date in the SU, Zac lets him know that maybe Robin isn't such a good catch after all, and warns JP off him (January 25th, 2008), JP doesn't want to listen and believes it's his prejudice as a minister which is causing him to disapprove of Robin, however JP is shocked to the core when Father Kieron admits he is gay too (January 28th, 2008).
Father Kieron packs his bags the following day because of Myra's constant talk about bladder problems JP pushing him to come out and to stop living a double life assuming that Kieron pretends to be a Priest in the day and sleeping around with blokes at night. He snaps and rants at JP about how he is just a child and doesn't understand anything about him and doesn't have sex with anyone. JP quickly says sorry and asks him to stay (January 29th, 2008). For the next month the pair get on fine, then during a few intense days when the pair spend a large amount of time together with the Charity Fashion show they grow closer and JP and Kieron share a kiss (February 21st, 2008). The next day the boys carry on spending time together, with Kieron daring JP to go to Drive and Buy and get some more beer, wearing only his boxers (February 22nd, 2008). While Kieron, at the start of March, is away from Chester he sends texts and postcards to JP to tell him how he is (6th/7th March 2008). When Hannah jokes with him about JP bigging him up he gets concerned that people will find out about him and JP being more than simple friends. JP takes offence and the pair bicker again (March 10th, 2008).
The following morning at breakfast Mercy is trying her luck with the bemused priest, JP warns her off, and the pair make up from the argument the night before. As the day progresses Kieron reveals he has started to question his faith in a big way and is struggling to control his desires. At first JP is worried and thinks he is to blame, respecting what Kieron does for the Village and society at large, he reassures JP its not his fault and later still admits to being strongly sexually attracted to him. JP is confused and when he see's the Priest in action that day JP reminds Kieron of his vows and says he will never want to be the reason to break them (March 11th, 2008).
A few weeks later and Kieron is still struggling to come to terms with his feelings, JP is doing all he can to avoid him, and mildly interested watches as Kris and Kieron hit it off (March 26th, 2008). The days roll by and eventually JP snaps that he cant stand watching him and Kris get closer all the while wanting to be close with him, Kieron happily gives in and the pair finally have sex (March 31st, 2008). Kieron, like JP, needs space to think about what's happened, for JP its about sleeping with someone but not feeling the same or as good as what it was like with Craig (the relationship as a whole), for Kieron its about what sleeping with another man means for his promises to god and what happens next. Kieron talks about this with Kris in the Dog (April 1st, 2008), when he talks with JP, he tells him its too complicated to think about and they should just follow what they feel. After a night to think about it JP is still not feeling what Kieron is feeling, and 
dumps him saying they aren't worth the hassle long term (April 2nd, 2008), Kieron devastated leaves the McQueen's and moves in with Niall (April 3rd, 2008).
The pair keep their distance from one another for several weeks, but eventually clash when Kieron goes to pick up a book and finds JP dancing to Spice Girls, then later trying to talk Michaela around to go for her second HIV test (May 1st, 2008). He later joins up with John Paul, Myra and Niall for a pub quiz in The Dog and when JP fails to get his question right and has to do a funky birdie dance Kieron steps up to save his embarrassment (May 7th, 2008). Attraction briming and before too long the pair are drawn together again, and agree to try out a relationship and see how it goes (May 8th, 2008).
Kris Fisher
Kris Fisher 
(Gerard McCarthy) is the only other "gay in the village" (I hate that pun!) and he isn't even gay, as much as he is bisexual, having relationships with both men and women. Kris is very individual and resists all labels. He also presents his own radio show where he is known as "Kris-Ter-Phonic".
In terms of his and JP's, platonic, relationship they haven't spent much time together. There is also the sense that JP isn't Kris's type and that notion seems to apply both ways (October 10th, 2007). Nonetheless he is a knowledgeable person when it comes to life, offering wisdom to many of his fellow students and indirectly relationship advice for Craig and JP (various dates). JP doesn't always agree with this advice, and when Kris-Ter-Phonic offers some coming out advice to a young man, JP doesn't agree and thinks he can do better, just as they are about to go live... the power goes off (December 5th, 2007). Partly out of spite, partly out to prove a point, JP and Elliot set up a pirate radio station to abuse and ridicule Kris's sharp and sometimes blunt advice and comments he dishes out to his listeners and friends (December 2007 and January 2008 and Various Dates ).
As 2008 progresses the pair grow closer not only sharing a relatable sexuality but also generally as friends, the pair egg each other on when JP sets up a LGBT society in the SU and Kris accuses JP of just doing it to meet fit guys. Later Kris offers support when JP comes clean about having a deeper interest in someone else (6th/7th March 2008). As March progresses he tries to guess who JP is lusting after, and as such is pulled towards Kieron as the pair are both rejected by JP for differing reasons, JP watches on as the pair become closer (March 26th, 2008). Kris becomes the catalyst for JP's jealously, and it eventually pushes him into Kieron's arms (March 31st, 2008), Kieron comes back to Kris later that night when he admits to Kris he has slept with JP and is in a state about what this means for him and his place in the Church (April 1st, 2008). The following day Kris cant resist jibing at JP, Kris offers himself as a sounding board (April 2nd, 2008), he later goads the boys in jest about all things gay and again offers himself as a sounding board (May 8th, 2008).

Liam (from Psychology)
Is one of those students that JP goes to collage with, but we as mere watchers never get to see or meet him. Kris asks JP if he fancies him to which he shudders (March 7th, 2008). Maybe its a good thing we never get to meet him then.
Louise Summers
Louise Summers (Roxanne McKee) is potentially Katy's sister in law, owns Evissa where Carmel and Niall work, and other than Louise asking JP to DJ at The Dog (December 26th, 2007), which she now part owns with boyfriend Warren, she has nothing to do with JP.

Marjorie McQueen
Marjorie McQueen (Diane Langton) is JP's Grandmother. The pair have little interaction, although JP does show huge concern for her when she is attacked by Niall, and is laid up on the McQueen sofa, in return she gives him a pound coin (March 5th, 2008 ).

Mercedes "Mercy" Owen (née McQueen)
Mercy (Jennifer Metcalfe) is another headstrong sister, brash 
and sometimes damn right rude, Mercy causes trouble wherever she goes. Often grounded by Russ Owen and her other sisters, although still displays moments of poor judgment. Described as the most selfish McQueen sister (November 6th, 2007) it's obvious she thinks a lot of herself before others. She was cruel to JP when he came out and refused to accept he could be gay she also took it personally when her then boyfriend Russ enjoyed himself at a gay bar with the rest of her family (February 27th, 2007). Despite being slow to accept JP, she eventually came around to the idea and tried to make amends by buying JP tickets for a Dolly Parton concert (February 28th, 2007) it didn't go down well. Stereotypes rarely do. She tried to get to know Spike when he came around one afternoon (April 16th, 2007) but JP saw it as her being nosy and shunted her away. The pair don't have that much time together, but JP did give her away on her wedding day to Russ (July 11th, 2007). Mercy likes looking at the gay mags under JP's bed, for the male models, much to JP's annoyance (December 26th, 2007). When she starts to hit on Kieron one morning at breakfast he is rescued by JP who warns her off saying he is a man of god and would never be interested in her (March 11th 2008).
Michaela McQueen
Michaela Mcqueen (Hollie-Jay Bowes) is the last one of Myra's daughters, and the sister of John Paul and Carmel. Half-sister to Jacqui, 
Mercedes and Tina. Michaela is the youngest McQueen and often feels pushed aside by her older siblings who tend to dominate her mothers time and attention. Although portrayed as essentially selfish and cruel to others, in recent months she has become more understanding.
Michaela, along with Mercedes and Myra, originally struggled to accept JP wasn’t interested in girls (February 8th, 2007). JP plays the typical big brother when it comes to Michaela looking out for her when she needs it, (2nd of November 2006 and 4th of February 2008). Over the year she hasn't really been shown to have too much of a reaction to JP, she relishes in being able to say "My brother is gayer than yours" (September 13th, 2007), and is non reactive to JP and Craig telling the rest of the McQueen's they are a couple. She also gives JP a huge hug and tells him she will really miss him when he leaves Hollyoaks with Craig (September 20th, 2007), they still fight like brother and sister though (November 9th, 2007). Michaela is again confronted by JP regarding her "drug problem" when things with her friends spiral into disaster (March 28th, 2008), he is so concerned he rings a drugs helpline to ask for advice, he later tells her he will come with her to the HIV test (May 1st, 2008).
Myra McQueen
Myra McQueen (born 1966: 42) (Nicole Barber-Lane) is the mother to the McQueen clan, a single Catholic parent who struggles to do the right thing for her children.
A bit rough around the edges in terms of morality, however ethically speaking she is normally doing it for the greater good. In terms of JP she has had constant involvement in his recent changes, she thinks he is gay because of the way she raised him with a close family of only girls (May 15th, 2007). 
JP finds Myra one of the hardest people he can confide in about being gay, and the coming out scenes between the two are deeply touching and moving, and reeks of distinct reality (February 8th, 2007). She struggles to accept the truth, but quickly embraces JP's new public sexuality and even goes with him to a gay bar to try and hook him up with a fella (February 27th, 2007). Over the coming months she quickly finds herself ever closer to her son as she shares his life in a more truthful and open way, she meets his boyfriend; Spike (May 15th, 2007), and later stands up for him when Craig and JP are revealed (various dates), she is even able to joke about it the following year with a Priest (January 28th, 2008).
Unfortunately Myra became too dependent on JP needing his mum, and eventually only succeeds in pushing him out into the world (October 4th, 2007). She is more than happy when he returns home and can go back to mothering him, but this time with a little more restraint. When she thinks Elliot is JP's new boyfriend she confides in Elliot that she never liked Craig and he is the kind of "lad" she wants JP to be with (December 7th, 2007). Myra is horrified when she learns that JP's sexual antics take place in the SU toilets and rants at her son, JP stirs her up even more by blaming and disrespecting the live in Priest (January 28th, 2008).
Myra, JP, Niall and Kieron go to The Dog for a game of Pub Quiz Darren Stylee (May 7th, 2008) and fund is had. Myra supposedly cuts JP's hair still. With a fruit bowl (May 8th, 2008).

Nancy Hayton
Nancy Hayton (Jessica Fox), was orginally the kind of girl who you love because she is the kind of female role model that you have to stop and admire, strong willed with principles and views that would rival the previous basis of Hollyoaks; 
sexism etc. At the start JP and Nancy don't really "gel" she is so full of life and trying to change what is wrong with the world that JP just gives her a wide berth (November 2006). Nancy has always set her sights higher than school boys and as such was never a central figure in the lives of JP et al, although she was always happy to help out her friends when needed (January 8th, 2007), and as such she and JP always tended to get along (various dates), nonetheless Nancy always valued her friendship with the girls more than any other and would defend and protect them blindly and with spite, this was ultimately the reason that JP and Nancy became "enemies", (various) their relationship of late is pretty much all consuming hate, with perhaps only Sarah hating him more. Nancy has gradually been worn down to a shadow of her former self by her relationship with Jake.
One afternoon in Washed Up JP goes in to wash some of the McQueen stuff and finds Nancy crying. First he ignores her, but eventually goes and comforts her, even though she was a total bitch he is happy to give up his afternoon and go with her to the hospital to challenge Jake and force him to let her see baby Charlie (March 11th, 2008), Nancy is grateful.
Niall Rafferty
Niall Rafferty; 29 (Barry Sloane) is JP's secret older half brother. He integrates himself into the village and McQueen household (December 2007). Niall is a friendly kinda chap and hits it off with JP straight away and even gets him to mix a CD of JP's mixed up tunes (December 21st, 2007). He comes to the McQueens for Christmas dinner and get's upset by Myra's speech about family and leaves (December 25th, 2007). Niall has a party at the McQueen's for his birthday and takes the opportunity to give Michaela a overdose and make it look to the rest of the McQueen's like she has a serious drug problem and manipulates the situation to continually make it worse (Various; early February 2008). Niall continues to involve himself with all the huge McQueen family events always being there even if its just making tea in the background but always offering a shoulder for Myra to cry on, despite being the cause of most of the problems (various). Niall invites Kieron to stay at his when things at the McQueen's turn sour (April 2nd, 2008).

Ricky Bowen
Ricky Bowen (unknown) is John Paul's, Carmel's and Michaela's biological father. Since they moved to Chester he has had very little to do with the McQueen family, other than befriending Michaela who was flattered to have so much attention from her dad, only for him to turn around and steal all their christmas presents and making a run for it (December 22nd, 2007). Ricky is rarely mentioned.
Robin
Robin (Daniel Bayle) is the next Jay or worse still, Spike (noooo how dare he steal Spike's place in Chester) he even has the check to mimic JP's and Spike's first dialogue regarding him working at The Loft and wrangling himself an invite. Nonetheless JP is smitten and enthralled over The Dogs latest bartender, who is friends with Zak as the pair play rugby together. Again like Spike, Robin reveals early on he is a man's man and tops it all off with a wining smile which draws JP in (January 22nd, 2008).
Rob as he is forever called after the first meeting agrees to go on a drinks date with JP after he finishes his shift, sensing JP is not at ease with him and 
displaying classic first date nerves he leans over the bar in The Dog and kisses him in front of everyone explaining when that's out of the way its easy (January 23rd, 2008). On their date out at the SU, Rob flirts and looks at other men, he still want's JP though, and pushes him against a wall in the toilets and kisses him. Hard (January 25th, 2008). Robin speaks, possibly for all gay/bi men and women who feel they are shunned or looked down on because of who they fall in love with, and lays it on thick for Father Kieron, although speaking his mind... ultimately he ends up cruelly breaking JP's heart by dumping him in front of his next conquest making it clear he was only ever interested in John Paul's penis (January 28th, 2008).
Russ Owen
Russ Owen (Stuart Manning) is one of JP's brother in law's when Russ started dating Mercy he wasn't that keen on him, although the pair bonded early on over their enjoyment of skiing (unable to cite exact date, not an uploaded episode) and hate of the dreaded Crab infestation. As time progressed Russ became a brother in law even before he officially married Mercy, he was extremely supportive of JP when he came out and although slightly hesitant offered to go with JP to a gay bar and embraced the gay scene with total gusto much to Mercy's disgust (February 27th, 2007). Even recently, now that Russ is no longer with Mercy he is still happy to chat to JP about things (October 3rd, 2007), he also still classes John Paul as his brother in law (March 31st, 2008) when the pair celebrate after the 10k run to raise money for charity.

Sarah Barnes
Sarah Barnes (Loui batley), was an important person in JP's life for different reasons, mostly for being one of JP best friends (pre 6th of September 2007) but at the same time having it away with her then boyfriend; Craig Dean (But that's well recent, the pair go wayyyy back). 
During the final year of 6th form Sarah happily made up her section on the Fantastic Foursome, completing the group dynamics and also allowing easy linkage in terms of storytelling. Her and Hannah were BFF JP and Craig were in a similar situation, wouldn't it be perfect if they each went out with the other half of the BFF team? You think so too right? Well that's what happened! First it was Sarah and Craig, then JP and Hannah, they could do bowling (November 23rd, 2006) and go on double dates (November 27th, 2006) and stuff like that. There were a few problems along the way mind, Craig and Hannah thinking Sarah was a big slut and after JP's body, and with JP not exactly saying otherwise, it spelt D.I.S.A.S.T.E.R. and a big fat punch from Craig (December 27th, 2006).
The new year arrived and Sarah spent
more and more time looking in the mirror and finding out she was indeed the fairest of them all, one day the mirror asked her why she wasn't yet a model? Why indeed, and before you she knows it she is going to Hollyoaks very own Mode magazine, AKA Ripple (June 4th, 2007). Which sends Sarah down the route of wearing sexy clothes and having the London Chic of 2007, adding a touch of glammer and lather of superficiality to the village of Chester. Poor Sarah, as she makes progress into the cut throat world of fashion her Boyfriend makes progress with his best friend JP (16th of May 2007 - 6th of September 2007). Unfortunately Craig is a bit like JP with Hannah and can't face facts so decides 
to ask Sarah to be his future wife (August 16th, 2007), she gladly accepts and everything is wonderful for a few months. She turns to JP often for comfort and reassurance about Craig's feelings for her, because everything about Sarah's life and ambitions are based on dishonesty, the irony isn't lost on the watcher (wink wink).
A month after being engaged a party is thrown where Sarah makes the discovery that JP and Craig have been at it like rabbits for the last few months (September 6th, 2007). A bit like Hannah, Sarah is unable to accept that Craig no longer loves her and begs for him to come back to her (she hates JP's guts though) (Various dates between 12th - 19th of September 2007), Craig refuses, saying he loves JP more now. The pair part emotionally touching ways forever on the 19th of September 2007. Sarah quickly covers up the pain and hurt of Craig's betrayal and struggles on with her new life at HCC with Hannah, Nancy and her new student friends. Sarah hates JP and in The Dog (January 11th, 2008) she tells him how much, blaming him for turning Craig gay and ruining her life.
Simon (from the second year)
Is another student that JP goes to collage with, but we as mere watchers never get to see or meet him. Kris asks JP if he fancies him to which he retorts that he is ugly (March 7th, 2008). But we all know that Kris has had him *wink wink*.
Spike
Spike (Tom Vaughan) was first seen in The Dog on the 25th of March 2007 and then left forever on 16th August 2007 in just under 6 months he had completely changed JP's life forever. Confident, not afraid to speak his mind and very sure of himself he instantly caught JP's eye, both being DJ's helped hugely (25th of March 2007, plus various other musical dates), JP admired him greatly and he liked Spike for his extroverted nature and the whole gay thing being a non issue for him (various dates).
It's probably fair to say Spike was too mature and confident for JP to ever be a long term partner, despite being the first man JP was to have sex with (May 9th, 2007), Spike's general attitude to their relationship was basic and casual at best, although he did warm up to JP and there were certainly sparks of love brewing on his side (May 14th, 2007) as well as gentle moments such as JP being nervous about their first time together (16th of April and 9th of May 2007), he also wanted, almost to a fault, to meet the rest of JP's family and be a part of his life in a more meaningful way (May 15th, 2007). When he meets them his natural charm puts Myra at ease pleasing everyone.
There were serious indications that Spike had been terribly hurt in the past (various dates in which Spike is aloof with JP when things get deep) and this was the cause of his now at times distant and almost naive experiences at dealing with a long term relationship. Regardless towards the end of their relationship JP and Spike grew apart, solely because of JP's greater need to be exclusive and with the person he actually loved; Craig (June 27th, 2007). Later Spike is still happy (or arguably desperately wanting) to have JP in his life in a sexual way still, but JP's feelings for Craig get in the way (July 24th, 2007). He often offers JP advice as an older, more experienced gay man (various dates) and even when he parts way with JP forever, is still friendly and concerned about JP's actions and future (August 16th, 2007).
(Spike is actually one of our favorite characters in the John Paul centric universe, and for what ever our tiny voices are worth, we'd love Tom Vaughan to come back to Hollyoaks and reprise his role of Spike!)
Sonny Valentine
Sonny Valentine (Devon Anderson) is vile, towards JP and Craig, he has a strong dislike of Craig because of his brother, Jake, killing his mother, and later of JP when he comes to Craig's rescue whenever he and Justin decide to bully Craig (28th of November 2006 and 10th of January 2007). He goads Craig to intermediate JP during a football game, (9th February 2007) and makes constant jokes and criticism about JP's sexuality (9th of February and 12th of April 2007). (Sonny leaves Chester when the actor is supposedly given the boot for poor time keeping).
Steven Hay
Ste Hay 
(Kieron Richardson) is the evil looking bad boy, who is actually a chav but is sorta hot. (A lot of people were confused about "Kieron" being gay... and assumed it was suggesting Ste would get with JP, in truth "Kieron" was the priest, additionally some fans believe the actor who plays Ste i.e. Kieron is actually gay. Confused much? We were! In the JP universe Ste is straight and with Amy Barnes) Amy told everyone Ste was the father of her baby and they live together in a council house, JP has met Ste on several occasions:
JP rescues Fletch from Ste when he starts to pound his face in (November 2nd, 2006)
JP rescues Katy by pretending he is her boyfriend when Ste pesters her for cash (September 27th, 2007)
JP rescues the McQueen household contents and his watch when Ste "breaks" in and helps himself (January 17th, 2008). JP (along with Kris) rescues Carmel's handbag when Ste mugs her in the street, he escapes jail because he tells everyone Leah has cancer (March 5th, 2008).
Steph Dean
Steph Dean (Carley Stenson) like her brother Jake has very little to do with JP, but unlike her older brother she is quite supportive of Craig (various dates) and is totally un reactive to the news Craig is now dating a guy all she says is "Why is it my straight brother can get a boyfriend and I cant?" (September 13th, 2007).
Summer Shaw
Summer Shaw 
(Summer Strallen) is a HCC student, and also a new friend of JP's. They first meet in the village when Summer drops her knickers while talking to her mum on the phone (October 2nd, 2007) JP and Katy later return them and they get chatting, or at least Summer talks and the others listen. She is a very confident and assertive women with an air of "poshness", which JP adores and is instantly attracted to, they meet up for drinks (October 3rd, 2007) and she pushes him to pull Jay in the SU bar. She is later one of the victims at the poison party which is thrown in Honor of JP moving in and Kris returning home (October 10th, 2007). Summer quite fancies Kris and supports him when Elliot and JP set up their pirate radio station (December 7th, 2007). Summer leaves Hollyoaks with OB when she decides there is more to life than singing pop songs with Steph in The Dog (April 2008).

Tina Reilly (née McQueen)
Tina (Leah Hacket) stands out from the rest of the McQueen family, she is studious and shy where her mother and sisters are outspoken and brash. 
Like Jacqui and Mercedes she is only genetically linked to everyone else through Myra, everyone else is either a half sister or brother. It’s thought her father is a bingo caller called Marvin. Tina is currently married to Dominic Reilly, Tony’s brother. They married in a double wedding between her and Dom and Mercy and Russ, JP gave both his sisters away (July 11th, 2007).
Tina has never had a problem with JP being gay, and was always kind enough to tell JP if he ever wanted to talk she would always be happy to listen to him (December 20th, 2006). Unlike Jacqui she didn't know JP was gay, but her reaction was only one of support and generally not much else was said (February 8th, 2007). Tina was partly the reason JP decided to leave home, after coming home with a "in the morning this is going to be such a big mistake" boy, they head to his room but find Tina and hubby Dom having "snuggle time" in his bed (October 3rd, 2007). When "T" is standing in the street crying about finding out she is not carry Tony's baby as everyone thought, and is instead Russ's he tries to comfort her, but he politely shuns him and decides she needs to tell Jacquie and Tony first (March 26th, 2008).
Toby
Toby (Craig Daniel Adams) is another one of those characters who seem to exist only to make problems for our JP and at the same time further a relationship with a longer term love interest, in this case Kieron. When JP sets up a LGBT society Kris goads him into having a little fun with it and they "pick" Toby as the hottest in the bunch, and in Kris' words "throw down the gauntlet" to see who can pull him first (March 5th, 2008), JP wins by stalking up to him and planting a huge kiss on his purt lips. Toby can't believe his luck, and before long is betrothed with JP chasing him around the village like he is the worst kind of addictive drug, eventually JP dumps the lad and receives a scathing attack on his dress sense in return (March 6th, 2008).
Tony Hutchinson
Tony (Nick Pickard) is almost married to Jacqui, the pair have a on off sort of relationship, liked you'd expect with any McQueen. As such he has a small amount of interaction with John Paul; JP urges Tony to "fight" for Jacqui when she prepares to marry Alec (March 22nd, 2007), and helps out in Il Nosh when they are short staffed (March 10th, 2008).

Warren Fox
Warren (Jamie Lomas) is Katy's brother. Warren is JP's boss when he DJ's at The Loft, and although the pair have only ever interacted on screen when Warren is used to highlight his open minded attitude and non anti gay stance, the conversations we have seen suggests the pair do spend some time together (27th of September 2007 and 7th of March 2008) whether it be a employer/employee relationship or more of a social one is unknown...

Zak Ramsey
Zak Ramsey (Kent Riley) is another student from HCC, he and JP get on well, both enjoy music, with Zak expecting JP to play his decks at the student flat warming party (October 11th, 2007). JP is with Zak having a drink when he is introduced to Robin who is a friend of Zak, he later winds JP up when he questions if JP fancies Robin (January 22nd, 2008) and gloats when Rob and JP arrange to go on a date (January 23rd, 2008). Zak is the first to raise his doubts that perhaps Rob isn't the perfect guy for JP after all (January 25th, 2008).
Zoe Carpenter
Zoe Carpenter (Zoë Lister) was briefly JP's housemate at the start of the 2007 September term when he moved into Elliot's room for 5 weeks. The pair are still friends to date (March 7th, 2008) when they talk about her relationship with Mike Barnes.
